Gold Coast's trampoline and tumbling specialists!

So finally, after months of overcoming hurdles, I am finally in a position to start sharing my journey to opening a Tumbling and Trampoline Gymnastics club on the Gold Coast! It has definitely not been a smooth road but each challenge has taught me some valuable lessons which I can’t wait to pass onto you.

A bit about me

I am 26 years old, born and raised in Wellington, New Zealand. My family is originally from Singapore and although I was the only one born in an English speaking country I am still the only one in my family without an English name, go figure. Roughly five years ago I moved to Sydney to work at Australia’s largest gymnastics facility. I looked after their Tumbling program where I learnt the ins and outs of Tumbling in Australia. I was guided by Australia’s foremost authority in Tumbling, Dima Kachan, from the Kachan School of Tumbling and performance in NSW, who has paved the thriving rebuild of the sport in our country. A strong inspiration of mine without which I probably wouldn’t have been able to start this journey in the first place.

My experience

From there I was offered a job to start a brand-new gymnastics club at a community PCYC. This is where I picked up the skills to drive a successful team as well as a bit of financial planning. I very much missed the coaching aspect during this role and after a year I applied for a job at the club with over 2000 athletes.

This was the final piece of the puzzle as I was selected to not only coach the New South Wales Tumbling team but also the Australian National team alongside Dima, which headed to the World Age Group Competition in St Petersburg, Russia. Feeling confident that I had learnt a passable amount to take the leap from club coach to club owner, I took the plunge and set out to start something special! That brings us to today where I am still learning every day about what it takes to run my very own Gymnastics club! Alright, enough about myself!

Opening a club is not for everyone, the next post will be about finding out whether it will be right for you! So make sure you look out for that one!
